Modern Slavery Statement
Gardeners Snaresbrook Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Gardeners Snaresbrook to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour in our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to respect human rights and to act with integrity in all our business relationships.
Gardeners Snaresbrook provides gardening and related services and works with a range of suppliers for tools, equipment, plants, materials, and ancillary services. We understand that modern slavery can occur in any industry or country, and we are committed to identifying and mitigating any such risks connected with our activities.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Gardeners Snaresbrook has a clear zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We do not accept, condone, or engage in any practice that involves forced labour, bonded labour, child labour that is exploitative or unlawful, servitude, or any form of human trafficking.
This commitment applies to every aspect of our business and to everyone who works for or with us, including employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers. We expect our business partners to share our values and to uphold equivalent standards within their own operations and supply chains. If we identify or reasonably suspect any instance of modern slavery, we will take immediate and decisive action, which may include suspending or terminating the business relationship and, where appropriate, reporting concerns to relevant authorities.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We recognise that the greatest risk of modern slavery is likely to arise within complex supply chains. Gardeners Snaresbrook therefore requires suppliers to operate in line with our ethical standards and all applicable labour and human rights laws. Our supplier onboarding processes include an assessment of labour practices, working conditions, and the use of subcontractors.
Where appropriate, we seek written confirmations from suppliers that they do not use forced, trafficked, or child labour and that they have controls in place to manage these risks. For higher risk categories or jurisdictions, we may conduct further due diligence, including site visits, document reviews, and interviews with management and workers, either directly or through competent third parties.
If a supplier fails to meet our standards or does not demonstrate a credible plan for improvement, Gardeners Snaresbrook reserves the right to reconsider, suspend, or terminate the relationship. We are committed to working collaboratively with suppliers willing to improve, but we will not compromise on fundamental human rights.
Reporting Channels and Escalation
Gardeners Snaresbrook encourages an open culture where concerns about modern slavery, unethical behaviour, or unsafe conditions can be raised without fear of retaliation. Any employee, worker, contractor, or supplier who becomes aware of or suspects modern slavery in our business or supply chains is strongly encouraged to report it at the earliest opportunity.
Concerns may be raised through established internal reporting routes or directly to senior management. Reports can be made in person or in writing and may be raised anonymously if the individual prefers. All reports will be taken seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated promptly. Where there is evidence of criminal activity, we will consider referring the matter to appropriate enforcement agencies.
No one will suffer any form of detrimental treatment for reporting a genuine concern in good faith. Victimisation or retaliation against whistleblowers is strictly prohibited and constitutes a disciplinary matter.
Training, Awareness, and Annual Review
Gardeners Snaresbrook is committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among employees, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, and recruitment. Training and guidance are provided to help identify warning signs of exploitation and to ensure that concerns are escalated correctly.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least once every year by our leadership team to assess its effectiveness and to reflect any changes in our operations, supply chains, or legal obligations. The review will consider feedback from employees, audit findings, and developments in best practice. Where appropriate, we will update our policies, procedures, and training materials to strengthen our approach.
Gardeners Snaresbrook remains committed to continuous improvement and to working with employees, suppliers, and stakeholders to help eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking from our business and supply chains.
